UD Lanzarote was overcome this Sunday by UD San Fernando, falling 2-1 at the Eleuterio Valerón and seeing their chances of accessing the top five positions to play the promotion play-off complicated. The Rojillos took the lead at the start of the second half and the opponent turned the result around.
The first half of the match was quite even, with no clear dominator, although as the minutes went by, San Fernando gave a greater sensation of danger. One of Lanzarote's few approaches was by Raúl with a free kick that goalkeeper David Ramírez stopped without problems.
UD Lanzarote took the lead at the start of the second half. After a lateral foul, the ball was rejected inside the area and Javi Mayor was the last to finish to make it 0-1. It only took San Fernando nine minutes to establish the tie, with Felipe finishing off a lateral cross.
With nine minutes left in the match, UD San Fernando scored the second goal. In a ball hung to the heart of the area, Joni was in charge of finishing to beat Ruymán and establish the 2-1. Despite the push of the Rojillos, the equalizing goal did not arrive.
UD Lanzarote is five points behind CD Mensajero, the team that currently closes the promotion play-off places. The Rojillos play the next match on Thursday, receiving the visit of Arucas CF at the Municipal Pancho Bermúdez.
