UD Lanzarote managed to draw this Saturday in their visit to the Municipal Antonio Afonso Moreno "Tonono", repeating the score of the previous season in the two matches against José Juan Almeida's team (1-1). This Saturday's match, despite the draw, could have been won by Adolfo Pérez's team if they had been more accurate in front of the goal in the second half, although they could also have lost it after two shots hit the post by the Gran Canaria team at the end of the first period and some other clear chances they had at the start of the second after taking the lead with Omar Rodríguez's goal in the 48th minute, with left-back Miguel Gómez equalizing in the 76th minute after a free kick taken by Toñito, who had the 1-2 in his boots in the 90th minute.
Adolfo Pérez appeared with the last-minute absence of central defender Raúl Fernández, who did not travel due to illness in the last hours, in addition to the serious problems in attack he has had with the injury of his striker Rosmen for a long period of time (he has been out for a month, will have surgery next week and would have to be out for another month after the surgery) and the departure of the also attacker Dani López from La Palma, who had scored 4 goals in the first six matches for SD Tenisca.
For his part, José Juan Almeida for the first time this season had to leave two players from his squad without dressing, after recovering players such as Samuel Casais in the center of the field, in addition to the participation of Sandro Armas on the right wing who had not been able to play against Las Palmas Atlético due to imposition by the yellow team. The only notable absence was that of the versatile captain Cone, who served his second and final match of suspension after being sent off in Los Cristianos against CD Marino, while goalkeeper Oliver Vega and also center forward Néstor Trujillo still have time to reappear after their important disc herniation and knee injuries.
The first half hour of the match was a study of both teams about the opponent, with tight marking and few scoring chances, such as the one UD Lanzarote had after two minutes, after a cross-shot from Borja Vera over the second post, where Kennedy did not arrive to finish, while Marcos Cabrera took a free kick after 23 minutes that Ayoze Pérez headed high in front of the small area.
From here the match opened up and there were more chances especially for the locals, but not before UD Lanzarote could score in a shot by Kennedy from the edge of the area that went past Eduardo's right post in the 33rd minute. Three minutes later, Arucas CF would hit the post for the first time, in a shot from the edge of the area by Omar Rodríguez that hit the left post of Alejandro Martín in the 36th minute, returning to be the base of the magnet of the ball that Sergio Marrero headed at the second post after a corner kick taken by Sandro Armas to the left of the conejero goal.
At the start of the second half, Arucas CF took the lead after a good play by Sandro Armas who enabled Omar Rodríguez on the edge of the area, who entering through the right side of the area, crossed the ball to the right post of Alejandro Martín, who could do nothing to prevent it in the 48th minute.
Adolfo Pérez reacted with the entry of Jeremi as the most advanced man, after replacing Brad who had played in front of the defense and the message given from the bench was understood by his team, to seek the draw, for which he had three chances before achieving it. The first after 11 minutes of this second act, with a penetration down the left wing by Miguel Gómez to the end line and his cross over the small area was headed by Ayoze Pérez into the hands of Eduardo, while five minutes later, Miguel Gómez himself in a play of great determination penetrated down the left wing, to touch on Toñito who returned it to the full-back who shot inside the area to the right side of the net. In addition, immediately afterwards, a change of orientation from Toñito from the right wing to the left, on Keneddy, allowed him to enter the area, but his cross over the second post went in front of the goal, without Jeremi finishing who accompanied the play.
After this burst of consecutive Lanzarote chances, Arucas CF could have closed the match with the 2-0 that did not arrive due to the lack of aim of their attackers, although the local coach at the end of the match criticized the referee for not whistling a penalty on Ivu in the 23rd minute. But before this play, Sandro Armas had two options to score the 2-0. The first in the 17th minute of the restart, with a shot from the edge of the area that forced goalkeeper Alejandro Martín to stop in two stages and a new shot from him from the edge of the area ended up being deflected to a corner, blocking the shot from the local 7 who was looking for the Lanzarote left corner in the 20th minute.
One of the key plays in the development of the match was a counterattack mounted by Ivi in the 23rd minute, which caught the Lanzarote defense asleep, to stand on the edge of the area, sit down a defender in the same and shoot inside the area a ball that Alejandro Martín blocked at point-blank range, returning the ball to Ivi who fell inside the area in a play in which the locals asked for a maximum penalty for a foul by Fran Gil, who this Saturday debuted with the team after overcoming an injury to a hernia after surgery during the preseason.
His work was rewarded by the coach who replaced him to give entry to Javi Betancort in the center of the defense next to Acai, while Kennedy had gone on to play at right-back after the substitution of Jorge Pulido in the 66th minute, with Jeremi playing as the most advanced man for Lanzarote after replacing midfielder Brad.
From the possible 2-0, it went to 1-1 in a set-piece play, where UD Lanzarote would achieve the equalizer. Free kick taken on the right wing by Toñito over the second post, where Miguel Gómez anticipates the defense that fell asleep and scores the equalizing goal.
Despite the draw, Arucas CF went in search of victory, which they could have achieved if not for the good performance of Lanzarote goalkeeper Alejandro Martín, who blocked a shot at the second post by Rodo after a corner kick taken by Borja Vera to the right of the conejero goal in the 34th minute.
In the last minutes José Juan Almeida brought on Kilian Ruiz and the young Álex, who sought to refresh both wings in search of the goal that never came again, not even for UD Lanzarote, when after a play protested by the locals as a foul on Iván Suárez in midfield, he enabled the long ball on Toñito who penetrated on the right and with everything to score in the 90th minute, shot to the right of the Aruquense goal.
In the end, neither of the two coaches was happy with the draw, which is not what they were looking for given the need for victory of both teams, the Gran Canaria team to get out of the relegation zone and the Lanzarote team not to move too far away from the top four. The Lanzarote coach Adolfo Pérez bitterly complained about the lack of definition that his team has after the losses of his two center forwards, which he described as "scandalously worrying", even commenting that if the board did not sign a scorer his team would not get to play the promotion play-off, while the Gran Canaria coach José Juan Almeida focused his statements on complaining about the refereeing suffered in this league start, pointing out that if his team played every match like this Saturday, he is convinced that his team will get out of the relegation situation in which it finds itself.
Next Wednesday UD Lanzarote will visit the island of Gran Canaria again to face Las Palmas Atlético in the Annex and Arucas CF will visit the Municipal de Los Olivos to play against UD Villa de Santa Brígida at twelve noon.
