The Argana Municipal Stadium hosted on Wednesday afternoon the first day of the 'I Cabildo de Lanzarote Interinsular Youth Tournament', a tournament organized jointly by UD Lanzarote, International Reyes Methodology and Cabildo de Lanzarote. A first day in which the semifinal matches were played, with UD Lanzarote and Unión Sur Yaiza being the winners, teams that will compete in the grand final this Thursday.
The first semifinal pitted UD Lanzarote against CD Teguise, a match that was decided on the side of the rojillos by 3 to 0. The team coached by José Reyes needed just 15 seconds to take the lead, with striker Edu opening the scoring. Abián increased the lead in the 20th minute of the first half and Aday ended up closing the scoring in the second half of the match.
In the second semifinal, Unión Sur Yaiza won by a tight 1-0 against Orientación Marítima “B”. The match was marked by the intensity of the wind, blowing in the first half in favor of the southerners and in the second half on the side of the rojinegros. The only goal of the match would arrive in the 17th minute, with Jorge converting a penalty kick. In the second half, Marítima turned to the attack in search of the equalizer and Unión Sur Yaiza defended with order to avoid problems.
On the afternoon of this Thursday, the final day of the I Cabildo de Lanzarote Interinsular Youth Tournament will be held. At 6:00 p.m. the consolation final will be played, with CD Teguise and Orientación Marítima “B” fighting for third and fourth place. And at 8:00 p.m., the grand final between UD Lanzarote and Unión Sur Yaiza has been scheduled.
After the matches, the trophies will be awarded to the participating teams of this first edition of the tournament, and in addition, a gift will be given to the top scorer of the competition and the best player of the event.
