UD Ibarra comes back with one less player and defeats Lanzarote (2-1)

The mathematics are over for UD Lanzarote, with the rojillos running out of options to fight for the promotion phase with three matchdays to go before the conclusion of the regular phase of the competition. UD Lanzarote took the lead in the first half, with a goal scored by Javi Melián. In the second half, when Ibarra was playing with one player less, the locals turned the score around, adding three points that virtually qualify them to play the promotion phase to the Second Division "B".

The first half was dominated by UD Ibarra, locking UD Lanzarote in their defensive zone. Pedro Manzi, in the third and eighth minutes, enjoyed the first chances for UD Ibarra. Both shots by the local player's striker went just wide of the three posts.

UD Lanzarote took the lead on the scoreboard just before the half hour mark. Rosmen fought for a harmless ball on the touchline, which was not cleared by Aarón, which the striker took advantage of to put the ball inside the area and Javi Melián headed it into the back of the net.

Just five minutes later things were looking up for UD Lanzarote. Balduino's protests cost the Ibarra striker the second yellow card of the match and the locals were left with one player less on the pitch. At the end of the first half, the score was 0-1 in favour of UD Lanzarote.

In the second half, despite playing with one player less on the pitch, UD Ibarra continued to dominate and looked for the goal that would get them back into the fight. In the 63rd minute, Raúl brought down Pedro Manzi inside the area, with the referee pointing to the penalty spot. Pedro Manzi himself took the penalty and equalised.

The locals had the second goal in the 67th minute, with a close-range shot from Sandro which Agoney responded to with a good save. Agoney returned to the starting line-up for UD Lanzarote in the match against UD Ibarra.

With ten minutes to go, UD Ibarra's second goal arrived. Raúl Barcos took advantage of a loose ball inside the area to send his shot into the back of the net. Ibarra achieved the reward for their greater ambition and their desire to add the three points that were at stake.

The defeat leaves UD Lanzarote without options, with the rojillos saying goodbye to the fight for the top four positions in the Canarian group of the Third Division. In the next matchday, with nothing at stake, UD Lanzarote will receive the visit of CD Tenerife "B" at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote.
