Today, Wednesday, the XXI La Caja de Canarias Tournament of the second category begins to close, a competition organized by the Insular Federation of Lanzarote and sponsored by La Caja de Canarias.
It will be in the municipal arena of Tinajo where Tinajo Construcciones Guadayca and Tao Cicar will face each other starting at 9:00 p.m., in a fight in which the locals have nothing to lose since they will be last in this competition, while the visitors would secure third place in case of a victory.
Entering directly into what this fight will be, the coach of the locals, Ramón Ortiz, will have the following fighters for this event: his island "A" point Antonio González "Loreto IV", the island "C" David Martel and Juan José Alemán, and the unclassified fighters Goyo Hernández, Jacobo Lemes, Marcos Hernández "Callejón V", Carmelo Montelongo, Juan José Goez, Maikel Umpierrez, Moisés Olivero, David Pacheco, Remigio Pérez, Ancor González and Miguel Trujillo.

The locals are looking for the victory to finish the competition with all the fights won, while the visitors are waiting for the previous results to continue with options to reach that third place. The locals have Efraín Perera, Roberto Berriel, José Alfredo Mendoza, Enrique Hormiga, Alexis Rodríguez and Octavio Perera as some of their most important fighters, while, on the part of the visitors, will be Pepe Martel, Agustín Mayor, Roberto Quintero, Adrián Rodríguez, Darío Betancort, David Romero and José Martín.
Friendly fight for next week
The Unión Sur Yaiza Grupo Rosa wrestling club has been reinforced and will begin next week its round of friendly fights for the town festivals. The next one in play will be held at the Socio Cultural Center of the seaside town of Playa Blanca on Friday, July 15, starting at 9:30 p.m., in a dispute in which Unión Sur Yazia Grupo Rosa and Unión Tetir Cicar of Fuerteventura will face each other, a team that will also be reinforced for this fight.
In addition, next Saturday, July 16, at 9:00 p.m. in the arena of the island of La Graciosa and on the occasion of the festivities of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, the friendly fight between Tao Cicar and Unión Norte Orvecame is held. The locals will have the reinforcement of the fighter from the island of Gran Canaria Juan Ramírez, while the northerners will do so with the Tenerife native Añaterve Abreu.
Finally, it is planned that on Sunday the 17th in Tahíche the Suso Cejas Memorial will be held, with a fight between Tao Cicar and Mega Centro Playa Honda. The organizers have the reinforcement of Francis Pérez "Pollito de la Frontera", while the beachgoers are joined by the reinforcement of Juan Ramírez.
Tías, champion in youth and Tao "A", in cadets
In the base categories, the XXI La Caja de Canarias Tournament has already ended in the youth and cadet categories. In the first, Tías Cabrera Medina Hotel Fariones was proclaimed champion with all the fights played and finished in victories, while Unión Sur Yaiza Grupo Rosa surprises, which has conquered the runner-up. The third place was finally for Tao Cicar, while Tinajo Construcciones Guadayca obtained the fourth place with 15 points. With the same points finished Mega Centro Playa Honda but in fifth place, San Bartolomé Construcciones Acosta was penultimate with 6 points and, closing the classification, was Unión Norte Orvecame with only 3 points.
In the cadet category, Tao "A" Cicar was the champion with 42 points and all the fights won; the second place for Mega Centro Playa with 31 points; with the third place rose Tao "B" Cicar, with 24 points; the fourth place was for Unión Sur Yaiza Grupo Rosa with 23 points; the fifth place was procured by Tinajo Construcciones Guadayca with 19 and, for its part, Unión Norte Orvacame closes the table of this competition with 16 points, while in the tail are Tías Cabrera Medina Hotel Fariones with 8 points, being the last classified San Bartolomé Construcciones Acosta, with only one point.
In the youth category, only the regional championship by weights remains to be played, which is held next Saturday, July 23, in the Tetir arena in Fuerteventura. The following fighters will attend the event for Lanzarote: in the category of less than 60 kilos, the fighter from San Bartolomé Construcciones Acosta Francisco Cabrera de León will defend the island's pavilion. In the 60 to 66 kilo category will be Adán Rodríguez Viera, from San Bartolomé Construcciones Acosta. In the 66 to 73 kilo category will participate Ayonath Caraballo de Ganzo, from the Unión Sur Yaiza Grupo Rosa Wrestling Club; in the 73 to 81 kilo category we will be represented by Jesús Pérez Figueras, from Mega Centro Playa Honda; in the section of between 81 to 90 kilos will be the fighter from Unión Norte Orvecame, Juan Antonio Ramírez Robayna; the fighter from Mega Centro Playa Honda Marcial Viñoly Bernal will represent us in the category of 90 to 100 kilos; and, for his part, Samuel Hernández de León, from Tías Cabrera Medina Hotel Fariones, will compete in the category of 100 to 110 kilos, having as representative of the Island, finally and in the category of more than 110 ten kilos to the fighter from Tías Cabrera Medina Hotel Fariones Kiren González Fernández.
