A complete device made up of more than 350 people will be in charge of ensuring health and safety conditions during the celebration of the twenty-ninth edition of Ironman Lanzarote, which will take place this Saturday, July 3, whose departure will be from Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen.
The Minister of Sports and Security, Francisco J. Aparicio, has detailed that "this security and control device will have the participation of agents of the Civil Guard, Local Police, Security and Emergency personnel, Civil Protection, NGOs, Salvamar, in addition to volunteers so that this test is carried out with absolute normality and to whom I am very grateful for their involvement."
The development of this sporting event has a "strict" anti-Covid security protocol and a Self-Protection Plan detailing the roads that will suffer cuts and traffic restrictions during its course. Thus, through the link on the website of the Security and Emergency Consortium http://www.emergenciaslanzarote.com/ironman/ you can consult the roads and streets affected by traffic cuts, as well as the schedules.
Aparicio recalls that a total of 124 kilometers of the island's road network will be closed, strictly complying with the regulations of the General Directorate of Traffic for the celebration of sporting events on the road.
"That is why from the Cabildo de Lanzarote we ask drivers to take special precautions and pay attention to the signs that will be installed on the affected roads and to plan their routes along alternative routes to avoid retentions, mainly on the LZ 20 at the height of the Monumento al Campesino between 09.00 and 18.00 hours," added Aparicio.
For the rest of the roads, streets and paths affected, the "maximum respect" is also requested to the traffic signs in order to achieve the best options for road users and above all to guarantee the safety of the participants as well as that of the drivers themselves.
