The second round of Group 6 of the Women's First National League kicked off with the island's top rivalry match, which pitted FC Puerto del Carmen against Orientación Marítima on Saturday afternoon. The two teams offered an entertaining match, with a lot of intensity in the first half and goals in the second half. The Tiñoseras took the lead through Alicia and the Rojinegras equalized with a goal from Caroll.
The match had a frantic pace in its opening minutes, with two teams working hard to take control and with quite a deep game. The first chance came for the home side, with Nieves heading a corner kick in the 8th minute, which didn't find the net. The response came with a play by Daniela Hernández down the left wing, which Daniela Gutiérrez couldn't finish at the far post.
The defenses of both teams worked hard to prevent the opposing attacks, and the pace of the game would begin to slow down as the minutes passed. The match didn't have a clear dominator, and the first 45 minutes ended with a goalless draw.
The second half began with Orientación Marítima wanting to take the initiative, but they soon encountered the goal that put FC Puerto del Carmen ahead on the scoreboard. In the 52nd minute, a cross from Eva Sánchez on the right wing was met by Alicia at the near post, getting ahead of the opposing team's goalkeeper and scoring the 1-0 into an empty net.
After the goal, Orientación Marítima's dominance on the field intensified, and they began to send balls into the area. In the 58th minute, a cross from Yaretzi from the right wing caused problems for Naza, with the local goalkeeper clearing the danger for a corner. And the equalizer would come in the 75th minute, after a clearance from Naza with her fists, leaving the ball loose inside the area, which Caroll took advantage of to establish the tie.
In the final minutes, the match could have gone either way. Puerto del Carmen waited for their opponent in their own half and didn't give up on looking for attacks based on counter-attacks. For their part, Marítima continued to send balls into the heart of the area and could have achieved victory in added time. A ball from Bea on the left found Naza's hand to send it out for a corner.
With the score tied at one goal, the match came to an end, with the two Lanzarote representatives of Group 6 of the Women's First National League sharing a point.
