For the first time, this acclaimed championship will have a stop in Lanzarote. It will be in Costa Teguise, starting on July 6, 2022, and will bring together the best riders internationally. Mar Boronat, Antxon Otaegui and Eric Yoldjoglou, who have led numerous editions of the European Windsurfing Championship, are in charge of organizing the event.
Wingfoil is a booming sport that merges windsurfing and kitesurfing; transforming a low-wind day without waves into a great spectacle of action, and it is also a clean sport as it uses natural energy: the wind!
The event will have two categories, male and female, and will host two disciplines, Surf-Freestyle, a mixture of waves and aerial tricks, and Surf Race, where competitors participate simultaneously in a “downwind” slalom race, with the winner being the first to cross the finish line.
The Wingfoil World Cup Lanzarote 2022 will bring together the best riders in the world; many of them also recognized for their achievements in other water sports, such as windsurfing. Coming from the five continents, they will be the best ambassadors of our island, both for their influence in the media and social networks, as well as for the team they bring with them (family, friends, followers, sponsors, etc.).
Once again, Costa Teguise will be involved in a world-class sporting event where local actors will be involved: hotels, shops, restaurants, all windsurfing schools, cafeterias, rent a car and many professionals who contribute their talent to make it happen.
