This Wednesday afternoon, the official list of entries for the VIII Rallye Villa de Teguise has been published, which will take place this Saturday, April 20, on the roads of northern Lanzarote, organized by CD. Manguia Motor Sport. The event counts towards the BP Championship of Las Palmas, the Island Championship of Lanzarote, the Rally&You BP Ultimate-Car Plus Cup, as well as other trophies such as the Promotion and Volante FALP 2024.
A list that will greatly encourage this first rally of the season on the island of volcanoes. Of the 43 teams finally registered, at least five of them are serious contenders for the final victory. Starting with number 1, the current island champions and winning reference of Lanzarote motorsport, such as Yeray Lemes, again co-piloted by Aitor Cambeiro, who are starting with the Porsche 911 GT3 that gave them the title last year and with morale high, after their victories in the first two rounds of the Canary Islands Asphalt Rally Championship-CCRA. Of course, they will certainly be the team to beat in Teguise.
Facing them will be two teams with two Citroen C3 Rally2s, their usual car in the Regional Championship. These are the current champions of the Canary Islands, Migue Angel Suárez-Eduardo González, who just celebrated their current title on this island last December. After an uncertain start to the season for the driver from La Palma and the co-driver from Gran Canaria, their goal in theory is to clock up kilometers of stages in preparation for the 'Islas Canarias' of the FIA-ERC.
The other team that is revealing itself this year is the one formed by Lanzarote natives Oscar Cabrera-Luis Ferrer, who come from winning in the Rallysprint of La Candelaria and in the Regional Rallysprint of Arucas last weekend. On the other hand, with their sights set once again on the provincial event, the Gran Canarian drivers Julio Martínez-Pedro Viera return to Teguise in search of a good result and, if they can, to aim for the podium, all the better.
Already with number 6, Rayco Rodríguez-Alvaro Rosario will try to get as high as possible with their Citroen DS3 Max, starting just before the "pack" of the ten Rally4 type cars of the cup organized by Spor&You Canarias with Emma Falcón at the front. Here, the champion of last year, Javi Cañada, repeats, with other usual names such as Juan Carlos de la Cruz, Nelson Climent or Alfredo Guerra. And the incorporation of Alejandro Martín, champion of the Clio Trophy Spain of last year, together with David Pérez, Yoday Betancort or Héctor Mederos, champion of the Clio Trophy Canarias 2023, among others. It will undoubtedly be an exciting development of the rally in this section.
Rally Data
The event will have about 100 people between members of the organization and security, to cover the two timed sections that are quite long, around 14 kilometers each, plus the rally headquarters in the Agroindustrial Complex of Teguise that will host once again a short section as a super-special.
Now the activity moves to Friday, April 19 with the verifications and opening ceremony in the same Teguise Complex. From there, the rally will start on Saturday, April 20 from the early morning, to contest the six timed sections of the itinerary, which repeat as in the past edition with slight changes: Tabayesco-Cajasiete (14.5 kilometers), with three passes; Costa Teguise-Lanzagrava (14.5 kilometers) and Complejo Teguise-CICAR (1.22 kilometers), a show section at the end of the rally.
