A new sports project begins within the UD Lanzarote, with its sights set in the short term on the 2023/2024 season and thinking in the long term so that the club can grow in sports and institutional terms. A project to which Fabián Bustos joins as head of the Sports Council that is integrated into the Board of Directors of UD Lanzarote, Pablo Rial who will offer advice and Leonel "Pipa" Gancedo who will be the coach of the first team next season.
The presentation of the new UD Lanzarote sports project took place on Monday afternoon at the facilities of the Grupo CEPAL, a company that joins as one of the main sponsors of the club for the next three seasons. The event was attended by Juan Carlos Albuixech, president of UD Lanzarote, and was accompanied by César Saavedra, general manager of the club, as well as Fabián Bustos and Leonel "Pipa" Gancedo himself.
The president of UD Lanzarote, Juan Carlos Albuixech, highlighted that "we have surrounded ourselves with an important sports and management team at an international level" and considered that "it will help us professionalize UD Lanzarote." And in addition, he thanked Grupo CEPAL for their collaboration and assured that it is "a very important boost."
For his part, César Saavedra, general manager of the entity, explained that the new work team "joins the project both in the general management and in the sports management" and announced that "we are working on the creation of a very important international area."
"Focused on growth to generate links and relationships at an international level"
Fabián Bustos, who will act as director of the UD Lanzarote Sports Council, stated that the work will be "focused on growth and the continuity of what has been done well" and clarified that "we will not forget the reserve team and grassroots football, important pillars in any team.” And about the international area, he explained that it will serve "to generate links and relationships at an international level."
Lionel “Pipa” Gancedo guaranteed that the work at the head of UD Lanzarote will revolve around the pillars of “humility, effort and being united” and for this, he recalled the phrase that “together, each one of us achieves more”. Regarding his style of play, he highlighted that he likes his teams to "have the ball and the players are the ones who must interact on the field."
Once the start date of the competition in group XII of the Third Federation is known, the start of the preseason will be set. Before, the Sports Council of UD Lanzarote continues working on the preparation of the first team squad, currently having several open fronts to reinforce several of the team's positions.
