The Marlines de Lanzarote Canoeing Club makes history again in the Spanish Sea Kayak Championship, held this weekend in La Vilajoyosa. The Marlines were once again crowned as Spanish Champions of Young Promises, reaffirming their hegemony in the training categories, and achieved the title of Spanish Runner-up in the Absolute category.
This success culminates a great season for the Lanzarote club, which not only stood out in this championship, but also throughout the year, winning important titles in several national leagues. Among them, they managed to be champions of the IV Sea Kayak League of Young Promises, champions of the IV Sea Kayak League Youth Men and champions of the IV Sea Kayak League Cadet Women.
A Spanish Championship marked by hardness and success
The Spanish Sea Kayak Championship was attended by more than 700 boats from 70 clubs across the country, who competed in the waters of La Vilajoyosa during Saturday and Sunday. Although the weather conditions were not the most favorable, with high temperatures and a very calm sea, the Marlines managed to prevail and take home 18 medals: 3 golds, 4 silvers and 11 bronzes.
This Saturday, in the Mixed Children B SS2 category, the couple formed by Isabella García and Tobías Locrielle won 2 golds, while Attenery Acosta and Jorge Quiroga won 2 bronzes. In Mixed Children A SS2, Claudia Fortes and Matías Ifrain won 2 bronzes. In Men's Children A SS2, Franco Ferrari and Gabor Devora added 2 silvers. In higher categories, Eloy Woelke won a bronze in Men's Youth SS1, Sara Moseguez won a gold in Senior K1 Traditional, and Andoni Muro won a bronze in Veteran 40-44 Men's SS1.
As for Sunday, the children competed individually and the absolute categories in pairs. Although the sea conditions were still calm, some showers improved the general conditions. Isabella García won a bronze in Women's Children B SS1. Ariadne Giménez and Andor Devora won 2 silvers in Mixed Cadet SS2. Eloy Woelke and Eduardo Fajardo won 2 bronzes in Men's Youth SS2. Braulo Fernández and Miguel Rodríguez won another 2 bronzes in Veteran 60-64 Men's SS2.
Balance of the 2024 season
