In the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen (Tías), the imminent celebration of the twenty-first edition of Ironman Lanzarote is intensely felt. For a few days now, Avenida de las Playas has been experiencing a continuous and intense transit of triathletes, who are preparing for their participation in one of the toughest triathlon events in the world. The event will be next Saturday starting at 07:00 hours, when about 1,700 triathletes will jump into the sea to become men and women of "iron".
The Tías City Council is one of the prominent collaborators of Club La Santa, organizer of Ironman Lanzarote, and is dedicated these days to providing all available assistance in the organization of this event. For the Tías City Council, the celebration of Ironman means the revitalization of commercial activity in the area. Not only because of the presence of almost 1,700 participants, but also because of the arrival these days in Lanzarote of hundreds of tourists attracted by the prestige of this competition.
On the morning of this Wednesday, the mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, accompanied by the councilors of Sports and Tourism, Yolanda García and Nerea Santana, visited Avenida de Las Playas, the area where a large part of the Saturday event will take place. They were accompanied by municipal technicians and supervised the preparations being made for the normal development of this new edition of Ironman Lanzarote.
The Tías City Council will proceed on Thursday morning to the official presentation of Ironman Lanzarote. It will be in a press conference that will take place at 09:30 hours with the presence of the director of the event, Kenneth Gasque, and the Councilor for Sports of the Tías City Council, Yolanda García. An event in which the triathlete from the municipality of Tías, Iván Reyes, belonging to the La Tegala Cycling Club, and Javier Mérida, who will participate in the special category, will be present.
