At the end of the second race of the Insular League of Latin Sailing Skiffs of 8.55 meters, the trophies of the past season were awarded, an event that brought together the Latin sailing family of Lanzarote at the facilities of the Insular Center of Nautical Sports. The awards ceremony served to honor all the skippers and crews who were victorious last season in each of the trophies and in the Insular League, both in the 5 and 8.55 meter categories.
The awards ceremony was presided over by Luis Toledo, president of the Insular Federation of Lanzarote of Latin Sailing, and Orlando Umpiérrez, president of the Canary Federation of Latin Sailing. Both thanked for being honored by a large number of sailors and family members, and revealed some of the projects they have planned for the Latin sailing season that has just begun. José Montelongo, deputy mayor of Arrecife, José Torres Stinga, mayor of Haría, Paca Toledo, councilor for Sports of the Arrecife City Council, Elisabeth Socas, councilor for Sports of the Haría City Council and Rafael Juan, councilor in Arrecife, were some of the authorities who were present at this event.
The Insular Federation of Lanzarote of Latin Sailing wanted to thank the collaboration provided by some private companies whose work is essential for the development of Latin sailing on the island of Lanzarote. Grúas San Ginés and Seguros Toledomar were the two companies that received a distinction from the Insular Federation of Lanzarote of Latin Sailing.
Then the trophies began to be awarded to the top three boats of the Seguros Toledomar Trophy, Ciudad de Arrecife Trophy and Isla de Lanzarote Trophy. And conclude the awards ceremony with the Insular League of 5 and 8.55 meters. All participating boats received a small distinction that certifies their participation in the 2014 season.
The afternoon concluded with a lunch enjoyed by the Latin sailing family, with the sailors sharing anecdotes and experiences. The orchestra "Nueva Estella" provided the musical note at the facilities of the Insular Center of Nautical Sports in Marina Colón.
