The Lanzarote judoka Daniel Torres was proclaimed, on October 31, Canary Islands Senior Champion in the -100 kilo category in which he was debuting.

Torres belongs to the Waza-Ari club, from the municipal school of Arrecife that is directed by Alejandro Collado and Cristóbal Reyes. It is the third consecutive time that he has managed to win the title of champion of the Canary Islands, two in other categories. He won the final with a match that he won by ippon against a Tenerife opponent, after having surpassed the representative of Gran Canaria in the semifinals by two WAZA-ARIS. None of the adversaries managed to knock him down, achieving both victories without scoring against him.

Daniel Torres has won medals in all the regional championships in which he has participated, holding three gold and one silver in his participations in the junior categories. In addition, last year he represented Lanzarote in the Spanish Junior Championship, winning the bronze medal.

The young judoka will have a new opportunity on November 13, as he will play the south-sector phase. If Daniel manages to qualify among the top three, he will have a direct place to compete in the Spanish National Championship.
