The Antigua Craiova of Ye Cabrera wins the Carmelo Hernández Memorial 'Return to Lobos'

The regatta was scoring for the Final of the Championship of Canarias of Cruisers

A new edition of the Carmelo Hernández Memorial Return to Lobos of Cruisers was held on Saturday, a valid race for the Canary Islands Cruiser Championship Final which will be held in June. Six boats completed the 25 nautical mile journey that separates Lanzarote from Lobos Island, in Fuerteventura, and the victory was claimed by the Antigua Craiova of Ye Cabrera.

The six participating boats started on Saturday morning, having during the navigation a north-northwest wind direction and that reached an intensity of 25 knots at the height of Isla de Lobos. The Sorondongo VI of Miguel Ángel Armas was the first to complete the 25 nautical miles of the course, setting a time of 3 hours, 17 minutes and 39 seconds.

In the final classification with compensated times, the winner of the Carmelo Hernández Memorial “Vuelta a Lobos” 2026 was the Antigua Craiova of Ye Cabrera, followed in second position by the Sorondongo IV of Miguel Ángel Armas and the third place of the Manitu of Pedro J. Rodríguez.

In Group A, the first three positions were occupied by Antigua Craiova, Sorondongo VI and Salite de Felipe Brito, respectively. And in Group B, the victory went to Manitu, followed by Pionene of Miguel Pérez and Altamar I of Francisco Curbelo in third position.

The Carmelo Hernández Memorial “Return to Lobos” is a selection race for the Lanzarote – Fuerteventura zone to attend the Final of the Canary Islands Cruiser Championship, completing the classification with the La Graciosa Race which will be held in two weeks and which will serve to determine the five boats that will attend in June the regional cruiser competition.

At the conclusion of the regatta, its sponsor, Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, offered all the sailors a lunch in Isla de Lobos and the trophy presentation of the Carmelo Hernández Memorial “Vuelta a Lobos” 2026 took place. Trophies that on this occasion have been made by the Lanzarote sculptor Bonilla.
