Next Wednesday, the list of participating teams in order of departure will be published, in a race that already has about 50 registered teams.

This noon, the eighth edition of the Rallye Villa de Teguise was presented, an event that marks the beginning of the countdown for the organization of the CD. Manguia Motor Sport. Coinciding with the moment of the closing of registrations this Thursday and already counting with about 50 teams registered for this second round of the BP Championship of Las Palmas and the first rally of the year in the Insular Championship of Lanzarote.

The expectations for the rally are "very good", because among the participants will be two regional champions, the Lanzarote native Yeray Lemes who returns to his Porsche 911 GT3, and the current holder of the regional title, the palmero Miguel Angel Suárez, with his usual Citoren C3 Rally2, who will take the Villa de Teguise as an important test before the European event with the Canary Islands, according to the organization.

The presentation was presided over by the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, who was accompanied by the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, together with the Councilor of Sports of this town hall, Alejandro Ramírez, and other members of the Corporation such as the Deputy Mayor Rita Hernández. And on the organizational side, the president of the Automobile Federation of Las Palmas, Miguel Angel Domínguez, together with the president of Manguia Motor Sport, Gerardo Rodríguez.

The event will have about 100 people between members of the organization and security, to cover the two timed sections that are quite long, around 14 kilometers each, plus the headquarters of the rally in the Agroindustrial Complex of Teguise that will host one more year a short section as a super special.

The mayor congratulated the entire organizational framework after welcoming the crowded presentation held in the 'Plaza de los Leones' of the Villa de Teguise. She also referred to security and made a call for attention to all followers asking for maximum care with the environmental respect of the area of the timed sections.

The island councilor of Sports recalled the importance of this sport for Lanzarote and the actions that have been "carried out to make it as compatible as possible with the island", such as the recent study of the calculation of the carbon footprint generated by sports motoring.

After the closing of registrations, next Wednesday the list will be published in order of departure of the participating teams. Passing the activity to Friday, April 19 with the verifications and opening ceremony in the same Complex of Teguise. From there the rally will start on Saturday, April 20 from the first hour of the morning, to dispute the six timed sections of the itinerary, which repeat as in the past edition with slight changes: Tabayesco-Cajasiete (14.5 kilometers), with three passes; Costa Teguise-Lanzagrava (14.5 kilometers) and Complejo Teguise-CICAR (1.22 kilometers), a show section at the end of the rally.

Before the presentation, the security coordination meeting was held, to check and give the latest details to all the public forces, emergencies and security that will act in the rally, under the supervision of the island director of the State Administration, Pedro Viera.
