Victory for Club Deportivo Orientación Marítima against FC Puerto del Carmen in the first match of the season in the Women's First National Football League. The team coached by Jack Talbot was surpassed in the center of the field by some local players, who knew how to handle the pressure in the middle of the field very well to take the ball and try to endanger the Tiñosera goal.
Few goalscoring opportunities occurred before the first goal of the match arrived. It was the 27th minute and Gara made a personal play down the right wing, finally passing the ball to Isa, surprising goalkeeper Naza with her shot, who, despite stretching, could do nothing to prevent the local goal.
The visitors tried to get closer to Paula's goal, having the best chances through balls hung in some fouls that they managed to launch from the front of the area, but the shots went wide.
Near the end of the first half, Roberta, who had entered after 9 minutes replacing Cathy due to injury of the local player, wasted a one-on-one from which the Puerto del Carmen goalkeeper benefited, even the visiting team having the opportunity to get the tie in the last occasion of the first 45 minutes. The referee of the contest signaled a back pass to the local goalkeeper, but Janet's shot after Ylenia touched it went wide.
With 1-0, the players went to rest looking for shade and cooling off from the strong heat that reigned in the Municipal de Argana.
Jack Talbot brought on Eva Sánchez before the start of the second half, with Eira leaving the field. The change was intended to give his team more offensive bite, but as soon as they kicked off, Gara won a ball from the defense and with a powerful and crossed shot beat Naza, putting the 2-0 on the scoreboard.
Puerto del Carmen began to have a little more of the ball and Orientación Marítima took a step back, who knew how to play well with time and the score in their favor. Paula, the goalkeeper of the La Destila team, became the protagonist by preventing the first visiting goal in the 55th minute. Janet entered on the right and passed the ball to Eva Sánchez, who was waiting inside the area shooting at point-blank range, but the goalkeeper of the local team prevented the goal.
Shortly after, Orientación Marítima could have extended the lead in a counterattack after a ball was stolen in the center of the field. Anya ran with the ball and left it to Gara who made a powerful shot that did not find the goal.
Puerto del Carmen had another clear chance before the half hour of the second half, with a cross from the right that Kiara finished off at the far post, but her header went high. Afterwards it would be Eva who would have another clear chance when finishing off a cross from the right, but again Paula prevented the goal.
Puerto del Carmen continued to try, putting a lot of heart on the field in search of a comeback, but the defensive work of the local team was being splendid, preventing Puerto del Carmen from having clarity of ideas.
With added time, Nieves' goal arrived, who took a distant shot from the front of the area, against which Paula could do nothing, after the ball took a parabola that took it to the right corner of her goal.
Jack Talbot's team believed in the miracle, who could have achieved the tie in the last play of the match when Eva finished off a cross from the right that went wide, leaving the score with the result of 2 to 1.
