Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote continues with a firm step in the Women's Honor Gold Division after clearly defeating Uneatlántico Pereda by 17-28 at the Polideportivo Exterior de La Albericia. With a strong defense, a solid goal and a very well constructed attack, the Lanzarote team now has 11 wins in 12 games and is placed with a six-point advantage over the second classified.
The beginning of the match was a declaration of intentions. Valentina Menucci, in a state of grace, made four saves in the first five minutes, frustrating Pereda's initial attempts. In attack, Gleinys Reyes and Andrea Claramonte began to make a difference with their aim, achieving an early advantage of 3-5 in the 10th minute after a penalty converted by Reyes.
The defensive pressure of Zonzamas caused multiple errors in the opponent, which were punished with quick counterattacks. The entry of Mireia Torras and Irene Botella gave even more dynamism to the attack, leading the local coach to ask for a time out in the 19th minute. However, the visitors' advantage did not stop growing until doubling the difference (7-14) in the 25th minute. After the break, the Lanzarote team did not slow down and increased the lead to 7-19 in just five minutes, leaving the match practically sentenced. Although Joana Pires (6 goals) led a timid reaction from Pereda, who reduced the difference to 10-20 in the 40th minute, Zonzamas maintained its dominance. The goal, now defended by Ana Martín, continued to be a wall, while the team managed the pace of the match with ease.
With the result decided, the intensity was decreasing, but Zonzamas did not allow its advantage to drop below 10 goals at any time, closing the match with a resounding 17-28.
In the middle of a streak of eight consecutive victories, the team is preparing for an intense derby against Puerto del Carmen, where they will seek to reaffirm their dominance at home and continue to strengthen their leadership.
