The Haría Town Council, in collaboration with the Tabayesco Festival Committee, held the XIV Tabayesco Popular Race on Saturday, January 18, with the participation of 72 people. This
sporting event, within the framework of the festivities of the Virgen de la Candelaria, aimed to raise food for the La Casa de las Estrellas Protectora.
The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, thanked the great participation in the different sporting events, which had a solidarity purpose. "This type of action reflects our commitment to animal welfare," he clarified.
The Councilor for Sports, Alberto de León, assured that this activity promotes sports in the population and encourages the union, collaboration and solidarity of the neighbors with the animals of the municipality.
The race consisted of four modalities. Adults competed in the Absolute Male and Female, while boys and girls did so in the Children's Participation and Kids' Participation categories.
First places and awards
The day began with the two races for minors. The children's race consisted of a distance of one kilometer and Aaron Barrios Salas was in first position, Leo Bausor in second place and Denzel Guadalupe in third. In the small one, which was 200 meters, Alexander Gimen Torres, Chloe Nievez Niez and Carlota Villalba Armas won.
In the adult category, 7.5 kilometers were covered, through the town. In the male category, Jose Fernández Maestizo, Tinguaro Quintero del Rosario and Akoran Rodríguez Hernández were the winners, while Elena Verez Ojea, Sandra Ortiz Lázaro and Nuria Muñoz Malagon were the first in the female category.
In addition, the people who won received a series of prizes. In the adult category, the first place was eligible for a voucher of 100 euros, the second a voucher of 75 euros, and the third a voucher of 50 euros. In the children's category, the first classification obtained a voucher of 75 euros, the second one of 50 euros, and the third one of 25 euros.
Thanks to this initiative, food was collected for the animals of the La Casa de las Estrellas Protectora, among which are ducks, donkeys, dogs, horses, cats and chickens, among others.
