The Polisario proposes to stop Ryanair's flight from Spain to Western Sahara in the courts

They report that on the flight from Madrid to Dajla, tourists are not informed about their destination as a non-autonomous territory pending decolonization and it is treated as if it were just another Moroccan province.

Booking a flight from Madrid to the city of Dajla, in Western Sahara, is as simple on the Ryanair website as traveling to any European capital, without warnings about its status according to the UN as a non-self-governing territory pending decolonization.

This disconnect between leisure and political context underpins the report 'Occupation Tourism', presented before Congress by the Delegation of the Polisario Front in Spain, as reported by elEconomista.es.

From the Polisario Front, its spokespersons denounce that this dynamic erases the legal debate for the visitor and ignores the ruling of the EU Court of Justice, which defines Western Sahara as a "distinct and separate" territory and requires Sahrawi consent.

In turn, the legal team is evaluating challenging before the courts the permits granted by the Spanish Ministry of Transport for these routes, based on Spain's role as the de iure administering power and on United Nations criteria regarding territorial consolidation through economic activities.

The study does not single out the individual traveler, but rather the commercial machinery: hotel chains, booking portals such as Booking, and airlines that integrate the destination as if it were another Moroccan province. Within this framework, Ryanair's agreement with the Rabat tourism office to fly direct from Madrid exemplifies how the flight offer contributes to normalizing Morocco's sovereignty over the area.
