Lanzarote closes the XI Open Water Swimming Cup

The event, which put the finishing touch on the circuit of five crossings held between June and October, took place at the Insular Center for Nautical Sports in Arrecife

The Island Sports Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote held the closing gala and trophy presentation for the XI Lanzarote 2025 Open Water Swimming Cup last Friday. The event, which marked the grand finale of the circuit of five races held between June and October, took place at the Island Center for Nautical Sports in Arrecife. 

The event was attended by the Minister of Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Monzón; the Councilor for Sports of Tías, Ismael Cruz; and the councilwoman of Arrecife, Davinia Déniz.

"Without a doubt, this competition has brought together many swimming enthusiasts, both athletes and swimming lovers who gathered for these five events," stated the councilor, who congratulated all participants, clubs, and organizers, and pointed out that the department is working "to get more events to join this cup."

The absolute general classification crowned the most consistent swimmers of the season. In the Men's Absolute category, the champion was Herminio Fernández Alperi (Nadamas), closely followed by his clubmate Matías Padrón Miguelez, with Acorán Viera Viera (CD Nonadamos) in third place. The winner of the Women's Absolute category was Naira Jaén Serra (Nadamas), with Lily Gopar Cordoves (Nadamas) and Nora Delgado Hernández (Nadamas) completing the podium. The Club Classification demonstrated Nadamas' hegemony in the circuit by occupying first place with 2084 points, followed by CD Nonadamos (1407 points) and CN Vulcania (1243 points).

The gala recognized the high level in all categories, from youth to Masters. In the youth categories, the podiums were formed by: Benjamin Male, led by Xoan Pachón Golpe (Esna Lanzarote), followed by Alexander Delgado Hernández (Nadamas) and Gabriel Martín Martín (CD Nonadamos); and Benjamin Female, where the champion was Andrea Fraga González (Nadamas), followed by Valentina Fernández Guillén (Esna Lanzarote) and Nahia Escudero García (Nadamas).

In the Boys' Alevín category, the champion was Juan José Ramos García (Nadamas), with Adrián Sánchez Rodríguez (CD Nonadamos) and Echedey Cabrera Erimias (Nadamas) in second and third place, respectively. The Girls' Alevín category saw Katia Pérez López (Nadamas) at the top, followed by Guize Betancor Paz (Nadamas) and Martina Martín Peraza (Nadamas). In the Boys' Infantil category, the gold went to Borja Estrada García (CD Nonadamos), silver to Nicolás Padron Miguelez (Nadamas), and bronze to Besay Delgado Hernández (Nadamas). Finally, in the Girls' Infantil category, the champion was Nora Delgado Hernández (Nadamas), accompanied by Nerea Martín Martín (CD Nonadamos) and Aitana González González (CD Nonadamos).

In the Junior categories, in addition to the overall champions, Herminio Fernández Alperi and Naira Jaén Serra in Junior I, the podiums were dominated by the Nadamas club, with Matías Padrón Miguelez and Eduardo Merino Fajardo standing out in Junior I Male, and Natalia Emilia Samu Bodarnea and Naira Pérez López in Junior I Female. Lily Gopar Cordoves (Nadamas) took first place in Junior II Female.

The podiums for the Master categories were configured as follows: Master A Men (Acoran Viera Viera [CD Nonadamos], Javier Cabrera Guadalupe, and Gonzalo Javier Ramírez) and Master A Women (Lucía Guadalupe Andújar [Independent]). In Master B Men, Aythami Cirugeda López (CN Vulcania) won, followed by Manu Aceituno Martínez and Adrián Epifanio Rodríguez Hernández; in Master B Women, the champion was Laura Picos Hernández (CD Nonadamos), followed by Laura Maria Ramos Santana.

In Men's Master C, the gold went to Gabriel Acosta Perdomo (Todo por un Sueño), silver to Guido Meroi Bianconi, and bronze to Javier Lorda Cabiro. Women's Master C was won by Magalis Dolores Rodríguez Brito (Todo por un Sueño), with Daniela Sixta Martín Ramos and Elisabet Delgado on the podium. Men's Master D was led by Guillermo Melian Esser (Independiente), followed by José David Lemes Corujo and Oliverio Javier Martín Gil; Women's Master D had Irene Rojas Arjona (CN Vulcania) as the winner, with Raquel Díaz Mayordomo and Virginia Veronic Estévez Wiszynski in second and third place, respectively.

In the longest-standing categories, the champions were: Juan Pedro Cáceres Ferrer (Master E Men), Emma Louise Gibbins (Master E Women), Juan José Berriel Santana (Master F Men), Olga Tavío León (Master F Women), Andrés Cuello Torres (Master G Men), Carmen Guadalupe Cabrera (Master G Women), Eugenio Lorenzo Rodríguez (Master H Men), Lynn Swani (Master H Women), Stephen Mark Swani (Master I Men), Doris Krimm (Master I Women), Robert Antonio Rodríguez Mitchell (Master J Men), Cinzia Lais (Master J Women), José Luis Chantada Fernández (Master K Men), and Rosa Segarra Peñarroja (Master L Women). Finally, in the Adapted Men's Category, the champion was Irineo Méndez Machín (Nadamas).
