UD Lanzarote faced a complicated trip to Tenerife on Saturday afternoon to face CD Santa Úrsula, a rival who needed points in the match to avoid being involved in trouble. Santa Úrsula did not make things easy for UD Lanzarote throughout the match, although the Lanzarote team grew as the minutes passed and enjoyed chances to unbalance the score. A goalless draw that compresses the top of the standings a little more and the "rojillos" losing second position in favor of CD Mensajero, which equals UD Lanzarote in points.
The first part of the match was dominated by CD Santa Úrsula, who enjoyed up to four chances to unbalance the score. UD Lanzarote in these first 45 minutes dedicated themselves to closing lines and avoiding the attacks of the Tenerife rival. The first warning came in the 2nd minute, after a cross from Faruk that Santi finished and the ball was lost over the top of the goal.
CD Santa Úrsula kept trying. In the 18th minute, a shot by Ignacio was deflected by goalkeeper Rayco to a corner kick. Just seven minutes later, a free kick executed by Samuel Arbelo was cleared by defender Ignacio next to the base of the post. One of the few chances for UD Lanzarote came close to half-time. A through ball from Mauri was about to be taken advantage of by Toñito, with goalkeeper Juanje coming out of his area to clear the danger. The first half of the match ended with a goalless draw.
The match did not change too much in the second half, with CD Santa Úrsula dominating the game. In the 63rd minute, the Tenerife team created danger with a shot from Oscar from inside the area, with the defender clearing the danger with his feet. Two minutes later, a cross-shot from Nau went slightly wide and did not find the goal defended by Rayco.
UD Lanzarote, well positioned on the field, was able to surprise CD Santa Úrsula in the final stretch of the match. After a corner kick, Adrián Barrera headed the ball and goalkeeper Juanje made a good save to prevent the first goal of the match. And a scare for UD Lanzarote in added time. Samuel Arbelo took a free kick and the ball ended up hitting the base of the goalpost.
Good draw achieved by UD Lanzarote against a rival that never gave in and was able to stand up to the "rojillos". CD Mensajero, with their victory against UD Las Zocas, catches up with UD Lanzarote in the standings, with the second place going to the team from La Palma due to a greater goal difference. In the next match, UD Lanzarote will receive the visit of CD Marino, leader of the category and a team that is only two points ahead of the Lanzarote team.
