Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote continues to take decisive steps in preparing for its return to the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola. The president of the club, Juan Rivera, has announced that he will not continue as coach of the first team next season in order to fully dedicate himself to the management and consolidation of the project in the elite of national women's handball.
“Competing in the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola is a great challenge for our club, both at a sporting, economic and management level,” explained Rivera. “Looking face to face at the greats of women's handball implies working very hard in all areas, especially when the objective is as clear as ours: not to be a yo-yo team and stay in the elite for as long as possible.”
The manager assured that the decision has been agreed by the board of directors that he chairs and that it responds to the need to professionalize the coaching staff of the first team, thus allowing the club to concentrate all its efforts on economic management, fundraising and institutional and sports promotion. “We have decided to leave the technical and sports management in the hands of a professional and solvent coaching staff that will have all our confidence. In the next few days we will present these professionals.”
Rivera also wanted to thank the support received in these years on the bench. “It has been hard, but the effort has been worth it. Thank you to all the people who have accompanied me on this path from the office and from the bench. I wish the new technical team all the luck and, of course, they will have at their disposal all the experience I have accumulated in these years.”
This movement marks a new stage in Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote, which is firmly committed to professionalization in its return to the highest category. After closing the squad with the renewals of Ingrid Roger, Valentina Menucci, Irene Botella, Luna Voncina, Agustina López, Nahomi Márquez, Gleinys Reyes and Brenda Roger, and the incorporations of Pauli Fernández, Lorena Zarco, Alicia Robles, Claudia
Kaulback, Daniela Jerónimo, Paula García Locay, Taty Masseu and Marie Louis, the club is now focusing on the definitive configuration of the coaching staff that will lead this exciting challenge.
