The young promises of Canarian sailing met last weekend in the bay of Arrecife, participating in the First ILCA 4 Qualifying Regatta. The event, which began on Friday afternoon and ended at noon on Sunday, was organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, with ideal sailing conditions in the regatta field of the capital. Guillermo Bravo de Laguna (RCNA) and Carla Lorenzo (RCNT) were the absolute winners of this first event of the season.
The first ILCA 4 Qualifying Regatta – Naviera Armas Transmediterránea, featured the participation of 34 sailors, a selective competition in preparation for the ILCA 4 Spanish Cup to be held in Villagarcía de Arousa from October 30 to November 2. Throughout the three days of competition, the nine scheduled races were held, with winds blowing from the east-northeast, with intensities of 12 to 20 knots.
Guillermo Bravo de Laguna, a sailor from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, was the dominant force in the competition, demonstrating great consistency throughout the weekend, adding five partial victories and four second places. These results placed him in the top position of the First Qualifying Regatta ILCA 4.
The sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife completed a great weekend, dominating the top positions on the podium in each of the categories. In the men's under-18 category, in addition to the victory of Guillermo Bravo de Laguna, it is worth noting Unai de Ugarte's second place overall. And in the women's under-18 category, Adriana Bravo de Laguna was the third classified.
As for the U16 male category, Unai de Ugarte climbed to the first step of the podium, and Mateo Roa was the third classified. And Adriana Bravo de Laguna was the second classified in the U16 female category.
