4th Race of the Island League of 8.55 meters

Last Sunday, the Island League of Latin Sail Barquillos of 8.55 meters was resumed, with the dispute of the fourth day of the season and reaching the equator of the competition. The five participating boats offered a great show in the bay of Arrecife, experiencing one of the most even regattas of the season, to date. El Graciosero Líneas Romero was the most regular, with the boat captained by Aythami Quintana scoring the victory and placing himself as the sole leader of the Island League.

The wind conditions were quite demanding on Sunday morning, blowing with an intensity of 16-17 knots and increasing in some of the areas of the regatta field. The Regatta Committee placed one of the beacons in the high seas and the other two near the small dock of the Insular Center of Nautical Sports, in Marina Colón. Circuit to which the boats had to give four laps.

The five boats took the start at 11:00 in the morning, and from the beginning it was the Graciosero, Isla de Lanzarote and Puerto del Arrecife that were placed at the front of the fleet, and a little further behind were the Haría Volcán de la Corona and the Villa de Teguise. El Graciosero Líneas Romero mounted as leader the first of the buoys of the regatta field, followed by Puerto del Arrecife and Isla de Lanzarote.

In the second upwind leg, Isla de Lanzarote, captained by Pedro de León, took the lead and was the boat that best knew how to read the conditions that were registered at that time in the regatta field. An advantage that was reduced in the stern towards the beacon located in the high seas, accusing Isla de Lanzarote of having a slightly smaller sail.

El Graciosero Líneas Romero regained the lead in the third upwind leg to the regatta field, a position that the boat captained by Aythami Quintana would not abandon and crossing the finish line as the winner of the fourth day. Isla de Lanzarote defended the second position and Puerto del Arrecife, captained by Manri Rodríguez, had to settle for the third position. The Haría Volcán de la Corona was classified in the fourth position and
Villa de Teguise closed the classification.

Once the equator of the competition in the Island League of Latin Sail Barquillos of 8.55 Meters has been surpassed, the teams have been able to discard the worst result. El Graciosero Líneas Romero is in the lead with four points and second is Puerto del Arrecife with . Vlla de Teguise (8) is third, and Isla de Lanzarote (10) does not renounce the podium. And Haría Volcán de la Corona (14) closes the classification.
