Magec Tías Against Gender Violence suffered a resounding defeat last Saturday against the leader of the Women's League 2, Segle XXI. The hopes and excellent work done during the week were not enough to counteract the powerful game of the Catalan team.
The Magec Tías players arrived in Barcelona full of motivation after the good feelings gathered in the previous match in Plasencia. However, from the beginning of the match it was clear that facing the hosts would be a tremendously difficult task. A lightning start from Segle XXI, with a partial score of 11 to 0, and a low percentage of success in field goals by the Lanzarote team marked the development of the match.
The impetus and quality of the young players of Segle XXI, a team destined for the promotion and preparation of the future stars of national basketball, put the team led by Cristo González in trouble. At the end of the first quarter, the difference on the scoreboard was 17 points (24-7), extending to 28 at the end of the first half (44-16). The visitors failed to feel comfortable on the court, and although throughout the season they have shown the ability for epic comebacks, on this occasion the challenge seemed unattainable.
After the break, Magec Tías Against Gender Violence showed its best version. With a partial score of 11 to 0 in their favor, the red-and-black team regained confidence and displayed a more solid game, especially in defense. This effort allowed them to overcome the rival in the third quarter, demonstrating the fighting spirit to which they have accustomed us in the worst moments.
In the last period, despite the effort and collective improvement, Segle XXI once again imposed its rhythm, again widening the differences. The match concluded with a score of 70 to 38. Despite the adverse result, the Lanzarote team did not stop working and believing in their possibilities until the end, reflecting the commitment and dedication that has always characterized them.
Now, Magec Tías focuses its attention on the next commitment, where they will receive Terralfàs Delfín Natura. This match, which will be played next Saturday in Tías, is of vital importance, as both teams are tied in the standings with 3 wins and 11 losses. It will be a key opportunity to move away from the relegation zone and get back on the positive path.
