The U.D.Lanzarote Veterans Association paid an emotional tribute to Agustín Hernández Marrero, popularly known as "El Aldea", who was the team's "Equipment Manager" for 37 years. The event was held this Saturday at the Lanzarote Sports City facilities. It began with an honor guard with all the players who, on either side, wrapped the honoree and family members to the center of the field. Subsequently, there was the delivery of gifts, plaques, trophies, scarves and shirts that were given to the honoree by each of the representatives of all the clubs on the island. The Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Patricia Pérez, the councilors of the Arrecife City Council, Samuel Martín and David Duarte, Roy González as delegate of the U.D. Lanzarote and the Veterans of the U.D. Lanzarote also joined. During the event, bouquets of flowers were given to Agustín's wife, Carmen Feo, and his mother, Concepción Marrero.
Manuel Orlando Hernández, Agustín's son, addressed all those present to thank them for the expressions of affection from everyone towards his father. "A day they will never forget," he said. For his part, Agustín took the microphone to thank him for the tribute he was receiving, but the emotion of the moment prevented him from continuing, being supported by the applause of all those present.
After the photographic session, the match between the teams formed by Veterans of U.D. Lanzarote and the Selection of the Veterans League of Lanzarote took place. A match in which the Veterans team won 4 to 1 against the Selection of the Veterans League. Afterwards, they left the facilities of the Sports City and moved to the C.S.C. El Marino de Valterra where the members of the murga Los Desahuciados were waiting for them and presented them with a song. Then a video was shown with some of the moments lived by Agustín Hernandez Marrero who for 37 years served as "Utillero" in the U.D. Lanzarote.
