CB San José Obrero continues to prepare for its debut in the highest category of Spanish women's handball, putting together a squad that will combine experience and youth. Among the young talents of Canarian handball is the figure of Elena Fortes from Majorera, a player who is moving to the island of Lanzarote for study reasons and will be part of the San José Obrero squad in the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola.

Elena Fortes Betancor, born on November 17, 2002 in Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura), is a right-handed player, 1.62 meters tall, who can usually play on the court on the left or right wing. She stands out for her speed in her attacking actions, as well as having a good shot from either end.

She started playing handball at just four years old and has always been a player for Balonmano Caima, a club for which she has gone through all its categories. In addition, she has been part of the different combinations of the Canary Islands, playing several editions of the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Communities. Last season with the Caima senior team, while still a youth category player, she played 13 games in the Women's Territorial League and scored 80 goals.

The coach of CB San José Obrero, David Betancort, points out that "she is a very young and fast player, so she gives everything in every action of the game" and adds that "she is a well-known player in the grassroots handball of the Canary Islands, standing out in her club Caima and in the Canary Islands national team".

The technical manager considers that "as a young player she must adapt to the category as soon as possible, she has qualities for it and I know she will do everything possible to achieve it" and points out that "she is ambitious and from the first moment she stands out for her good intentions in improving herself sportingly".

The incorporation of Elena Fortes to the CB San José Obrero squad is in addition to the signings of central player Gabi Romero, wingers Sara de León, Nagore Saenz and Priscila dos Santos and Polish goalkeeper Aleksandra Orowicz. In the chapter of renewals, the Lanzarote team has closed the continuity of goalkeeper Ana Marín, wingers Gema Trujillo and Melania Cabrera, pivots Alicia Torres and Miriam Páez, central Esther de Miguel and first line Nabila Harchaouin.
