El Gourmet Ampate leaves the co-leadership on the Balonman Cañiza court (27-23)

Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote had a complicated away game against Balonman Saeplast Cañiza, a team that was playing good handball and whose position in the standings does not reflect their performance. The Galicians proved to be a dangerous team, not allowing San José Obrero to be comfortable on the court, and the Lanzarote team ended up suffering a defeat that leaves them without the co-leadership.

The match started in the worst possible way for the interests of Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote, conceding a 5-1 run in the first four minutes of the game. Jesús Casanova had to stop the match to request a time-out and try to wake his players up from the cold start they were having.

The visitors gradually got into the game as the minutes passed. A goal from Ander Iriarte tied the score before the halfway point of the first half (8-8). San José Obrero was unable to complete the comeback, seeing how Balonman Saeplast Cañiza pulled away again on the scoreboard in the final minutes of the first half. The score was 17-14 at halftime.

Unlike the first half, the period started with an energized Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote, achieving a 1-4 run to tie the score again (18-18). The Galicians did not give up and were not going to make it easy for their opponent, fighting for every ball and being better than their rival in each attacking and defensive play.

Balonman Cañiza gave the Lanzarote team a 3-0 run with eight minutes left in the game, forcing Jesús Casanova to request another time-out. After the instructions from the bench, Martín Alfeirán scored for the Galicians to put the score at 25-21.

The four-goal difference was insurmountable for Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote, and the match ended with a score of 27-23. The defeat leaves San José Obrero in third place in the standings, although with one game less in which they could regain the co-leadership of the category. Their next opponent will be Seis do Nadal, a match that will be played on Saturday starting at 6:00 PM at the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion.
