Defeat of Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote that hangs from the promotion phase

Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero drops out of the fight for the top two places in the standings, after the defeat suffered on Saturday afternoon against Gran Canaria Villa de Ingenio. The team from Gran Canaria has historically been a rival that the Titerroy team does not do well against, and on Saturday afternoon it once again became the bogey team of the team led by Jesús Casanova. Balonmano Nava's victory against Anaitasuna leaves Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote three points away from the promotion phase zone. The team from Lanzarote starred in one of the worst games of the season.

Both teams started the match with a 6:0 defense, although the defensive strategy of Gran Canaria Villa de Ingenio and Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote was not very successful. The attacks prevailed over the defenses in these first minutes of the match and each attack became a goal. In addition, there were many inaccuracies in the circulation of the ball and sometimes the teams made a bad selection in the final shot.

Gran Canaria Villa de Ingenio took the lead on the scoreboard in these first minutes of the match, reaching a maximum lead of three goals. Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote did not give up and thanks to the good shots of Nelson Espino was able to stay in the game. The Lanzarote team had some advantage on the scoreboard and with the tie at 16 goals they would reach the end of the first 30 minutes of the match.

The game played by Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote in the second half did not improve. The match was a back and forth, with numerous errors by both teams. The worst part was taken by Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote, with an anarchic game and without being able to play as a team. The Lanzarote team was showing a terrible image, one of the worst of the season, without ball circulation, denied in attack and determined to make individual plays. Many of the attacking actions of this second half ended in lobs or loops, resources more typical of matches that are almost resolved than of a team that was playing the possibility of continuing to fight for a promotion phase.

Gran Canaria Villa de Ingenio was always ahead on the scoreboard in this second half, and the reaction of Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote would never come. In the last play of the match, the Lanzarote team had the opportunity to tie, missing the pivot and the goalkeeper from Gran Canaria saving the shot. Defeat by 25 to 24 against Villa de Ingenio, a setback that leaves Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote very touched for the rest of the season.

There is no other option than to get up from the stumble starred on Saturday afternoon and start thinking about the match of the next day against Balonmano Salamanca. With the defeat against Villa de Ingenio, Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote is placed three points behind Balonmano Nava. The next match will be on Saturday at the Municipal Pavilion of Titerroy from 7:30 p.m.
