The options of UD Lanzarote to fight for the promotion phase are exhausted, after losing on Thursday morning against CD Santa Úrsula. The Tenerife team took advantage of the attacking actions they generated, facing a UD Lanzarote that became nervous as the minutes passed. The key was at the beginning of the second half, conceding three goals in the first quarter of an hour. The local team tried to react, with CD Santa Úrsula sealing the match on the counterattack.
The first minutes of the match were marked by the inaccuracies committed by both teams in the circulation of the ball. The locals were not comfortable on the field and the visitors, with strong pressure, tried to suffocate the ball output of UD Lanzarote. Some minutes in which most of the game took place in the wide area of the field.
CD Santa Úrsula took the lead in the 15th minute of the first half. Jorge received a ball at the right vertex of the area, taking a shot that slipped next to the base of the post of the goal defended by Alejandro. Defensive mismatch of the locals and that cost them the first goal of the match.
UD Lanzarote had an unbeatable opportunity to establish the tie in the 21st minute of the first half. Rosmen, from the front, opened for the entry on the left side of Borja Vera, he put a cross to the second post and Quintero failed to finish between the three posts. The equalizer came in the 35th minute of the first half. CD Santa Úrsula would take the lead again at the start of the second half. In the 2nd minute of the restart, Pedro won the back of the local defense, stood inside the area and beat goalkeeper Alejandro with a low shot. A goal that was a bucket of cold water for the locals, who became more nervous with the score against them.
The Tenerife team put the match on track with two goals in just four minutes. In the 58th minute, Arturo entered the right wing where he won the baseline, gave way to the arrival of Jorge at the second post and he beat Alejandro again. And just four minutes later, a corner kick was headed by Miguel, establishing the 1-4.
UD Lanzarote sought a desperate reaction, playing with a defense of three players and leaning on the attack. Toñito reduced the differences in the 64th minute, with a free kick from the left side, surpassing the stretch of goalkeeper Juanje from above. The goal gave wings to the locals, who had the third goal in Quintero's boots after an excellent play by Toñito on the right wing, but his shot was stopped by Juanje from below.
The sentence came with four minutes remaining for the end of the match. Pedro, in the center of the field, stole a ball from Krispy, mounting a quick counterattack in which he put a precise pass to his teammate Mujica to put the definitive 2-5 on the scoreboard.
Second consecutive defeat for UD Lanzarote, which leaves the rojillos almost without options to fight for the play-off zone. With four games remaining until the end of the regular phase of the Third Division, UD Lanzarote is 10 points behind the fourth classified. For its part, CD Santa Úrsula adds its second consecutive victory and approaches the permanence zone of the Third Division, putting pressure on CD Vera, who plays against CD Santa Úrsula on Sunday morning.
