The Tizziri Tinajo Basketball Club presents the Los Dolores Tournament, scheduled for September 5th and 6th at the Tinajo Municipal Pavilion, which will serve as a posthumous tribute to Pablo Brieba, player and coach of the entity who passed away this past Sunday in Lanzarote.
Pablo, very loved within the club, was part of the working group in charge of organizing this edition, which has given the event a special meaning. His sudden loss caused great shock in the Tinajo family, which even considered suspending the tournament. Finally, the board decided to maintain the event and transform it into a tribute to his memory.
The tournament has the institutional collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through its Island Sports Service, the Tinajo City Council and its Department of Sports, the Canary Basketball Federation and the company Sia. The Los Dolores 2025 Tournament is supported by the official sponsorship of Club La Santa and Jadilanz Airecomprimido.
The competition will be held in a triangular format with the participation of the host team, which plays in the Interinsular League of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura; CB Gran Canaria, representative in the national U22 League; and CB Los Toscones de Corralejo, belonging to the national Third FEB League.
The sports calendar includes three matches: on Friday, September 5, at 8:00 p.m., Tizziri Tinajo will face CB Los Toscones; on Saturday the 6th, at 11:00 a.m., the hosts will measure forces with the U22 of CB Gran Canaria. And at 5:00 p.m., teams from Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura will close the competition. After this last match, the awards ceremony will take place, preceded by an act in memory of Pablo Brieba, in which it is expected to have the presence of his family and friends.
With this gesture, Tizziri Tinajo hopes that the tournament will become one of its most emblematic events over time and, in addition, serve as a heartfelt tribute to the figure of Pablo Brieba, a reference for the club and island basketball. The tournament is projected not only as a sports competition, but as a space for remembrance and recognition of a fundamental person in the recent history of the entity.
