Last Friday, May 12, at the High Performance Sports Center in Madrid, the last training session of the 22/23 season of the Senegal 2026 Project was held by the Royal Spanish Karate Federation, and
whose objective is to select the young karatekas who will represent Spain in the next Youth Olympic Games to be held in Dakar in 2026.
The Lanzarote karateka, from the Club Karate Poliarrecife, Amelie Yaiza Skiba, has been included in this project.
In addition, and in connection with the Senegal 2026 Project, on Saturday, May 13, the Arganda International Open 2023, Road Dakar 2026 was held in the Madrid town of Arganda del Rey. A championship in which the best national karatekas of the youth and cadet categories of kumite have participated, as well as karatekas of these categories from other countries, in which Amelie Skiba participated in the Female Cadet -50 kg category, and in which, after a very
good performance, with three victories in her four fights (4-2, 0-1, 6-0 and 4-1), she obtains the third place on the podium.
Amelie is consolidating herself among the most complete karatekas in her category at the national level, given her competitive level in both kata and kumite.
The next events of the Arrecife club are the regional championship to be held in Los Realejos (Tenerife) on May 21, where it will be represented by Amelie Skiba in Female Cadet Kata and Female Cadet Kumite -54 kg, Gael Guadalupe in Male Youth Kumite -48kg, and Caleb Padrón in Children's Kumite -35 kg., as well as the WKF Youth League to be held in Poreč (Croatia), from June 29 to July 2, where Amelie will participate in both modalities, Female U14 Kata and Female U14 Kumite -52 kg.
