Don't overthink it. In this Sunday's elections, two things are decided: to continue moving forward with the PSOE and with Pedro Sánchez as president, or to go back to the past with the Popular Party supported by the crutch of the extreme right. To clear your doubts, I would like to remind you in a nutshell what your vote was for four years ago.
It served for the labor reform of the 21 million workers and 50 percent of permanent contracts. It served to reform pensions and raise them according to the CPI, 8.5 percent in 2023. It served to protect the social fabric against the pandemic with ERTES and aid to the self-employed and SMEs.
Your vote also served for the Iberian solution that makes us have the cheapest energy in all of Europe. It served to have 2,520 million in scholarships, more than ever, and to promote the new Professional Training. It served to have 90,000 more health workers and the largest cultural offer of MIR places. It served to approve the Euthanasia Law.
During these last years, Lanzarote has broken the record in job creation, in Social Security affiliates and in permanent contracts. Now there are 2,000 fewer unemployed people than in 2019 and there are also about 12,000 more people affiliated with Social Security. That's what your vote was for too.
Now I want to look ahead, I want my country and my land to continue to move forward, I want the best Spain, the best Lanzarote and the best La Graciosa. Therefore, I can guarantee that your vote this Sunday will serve to ensure that the economy continues to grow and distributes its fruits with social justice. It will serve to raise wages and for the Minimum Interprofessional Wage to be 60 percent of the average wage by law.
Your vote will also serve to fill the pension fund and continue to collect in the future. It will serve to ensure that 80 percent of electricity is renewable and that the electricity bill goes down. It will serve to extend paternity and maternity leave to 20 weeks. It will serve to build more than 180,000 public rental homes, half for young people. Your vote will serve for the best Spain, the one that wants to move forward.
Your vote will serve for Pedro Sánchez to be president of the Government of Spain again and for my colleague Loli Corujo to get a seat in the Congress of Deputies, to feel proud that a Lanzarote native heads the list to the Congress for the province, breaking, in addition, a glass ceiling for all women.
I do not intend to be alarmist: on Sunday we are playing for rights and freedoms. It's not that the wolf is coming, it's that the wolf is already here. The ultra-right dominates in Hungary, Poland and Italy, advances in Germany, France or the Netherlands. In our country, it comes hand in hand with the Popular Party and that alliance can only be stopped with our votes. So let's go to the polls en masse so that Spain continues to move forward.
