Netanyahu imitates Herod

December 13 2023 (15:34 WET)

Herod was a king of Judea who ruled the territory with the approval of the Roman Empire. Although Judea was an independent kingdom. The Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 2:1-23) describes Herod as a monster who tried to kill the child Jesus and, as he could not find him, ordered the murder of all the babies in Bethlehem and its entire region in an event known as the "slaughter of the innocents." The event caused the Holy Family to flee to Egypt.

On Friday, December 1, ignoring international calls for a continuation of a ceasefire, Israel resumed the bombings of the Gaza Strip with even greater violence. "The results are impressive! Hamas only understands force," said the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, who participated that same day in the bombings aboard a combat plane. Many of us hoped that this pause in the fighting would be prolonged and even culminate in a definitive ceasefire. We were wrong, the genocide against the Palestinian people ordered by Netanyahu continues, especially with the children. Let's see some information.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that, after more than two months of intense bombings and siege, more than 18,000 Gazans have died, including 7,000 children and another 3,500 have disappeared. Presumably they were crushed under the rubble of collapsed buildings.

The Israeli NGO 'Breaking the silence' published that Israeli soldiers have acknowledged receiving orders from the Israeli high command to shoot to kill against girls and boys in Palestine. The situation has reached such a degree that even the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, asserted that "Gaza has become a children's cemetery." "Israel is immersed in a war of unbridled revenge that is producing apocalyptic scenes."

According to the World Health Organization, a Palestinian child is killed every ten minutes. The few who survive such attacks will suffer deformities (burns, amputated legs and arms) for life. A senior official from the UN humanitarian aid agency says that "no Palestinian child has access to care, nutrition or water. A famine is looming."

The UN reports that Israel fires missiles at homes, where minors take refuge with the women of the family and are buried under tons of concrete blocks.

The UN also reports that in October there were about 50,000 pregnant women trapped under the bombings, without water, food, electricity, medicine. It is not known how many have died under the bombs and rubble with their babies, nor how many girls and boys lost their lives during the birth of their mothers.

In Gaza, Save The Children affirms, the number of children killed during the first three weeks of Israeli bombings had exceeded the annual number of children annihilated in all conflict zones in the world since 2019.

Rarely in recent history has there been such an intense and massive killing of children and civilians as at this moment in Gaza, one of the most densely populated places in the world.

It is necessary to stop this inhuman drama that is being experienced in Palestine. It is necessary to stop the disproportionate and indiscriminate Israeli military action against the Palestinian civilian population. This humanitarian catastrophe must be stopped.

It is clear that the UN is dominated by Western powers allied with Israel that have no real interest in reaching a solution.

Therefore, we call for citizen mobilization to pressure governments around the world to immediately break all agreements, especially those related to military collaboration, and to impose economic and diplomatic sanctions on Israel without delay. A strong international action is needed to end Israeli impunity.

Canarian society cannot remain indifferent to this infanticide. We cannot remain impassive to the tremendous images that circulate in the world about the holocaust that is being experienced in Palestinian territory. We cannot turn a blind eye to the permanent murders of children and women committed by the immoral and criminal government of Herod Netanyahu.
