The Yaiza City Council, presided over by Óscar Noda, has launched a public tender for the execution of the project to create new shade areas for the La Degollada picnic area through the installation of five roofed pergolas in each of the barbecue areas, with the aim of "expanding the protection that the newly planted trees will offer."

“The initiative is obviously aimed at preventing users' direct exposure to the sun, but it also contributes to improving the aesthetics of the facilities, where we have already completed the accessibility works and the provision of new barbecues,” explained the Councilor for Maintenance of Public Buildings, Rubén Arca.

The City Council recalls that the picnic area is a recreation area located between the towns of Yaiza and La Degollada of 13,400 square meters with five barbecue points surrounded by stone walls arranged in a semicircle and each point equipped with wooden tables and benches in a vegetation environment. "The size of the trees is not enough to provide shade in the barbecue areas and therefore the City Council has opted for the placement of roofed pergolas," they point out.
