The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, this Thursday delivered a basic life support ambulance to the municipality's Civil Protection Group, which involved a municipal investment of 74,000 euros and is “fully equipped and available for use in preventive services and to support transfers from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), in coordinated action with 112”.

The City Council continues to increase the endowment of the southern group. In the words of the mayor, “it is also a way of recognizing and supporting the magnificent work carried out by volunteer men and women who demonstrate their commitment every day in the mission of safeguarding citizen security by selflessly lending a hand to our neighbors as they have done without hesitation throughout the pandemic, even on the front lines of care.”

The ambulance is a new Volkswagen brand vehicle that has the technical-sanitary certification of the Government of the Canary Islands and is therefore already operational. In fact, it is part of the security resources deployed for the events planned for next weekend in Yaiza.

The Councilor for Citizen Security of Yaiza, Javier Camacho, details that “the ambulance has six seats, three in the driving cabin and two more in the care cabin where the stretcher goes. Of course, it is equipped with the technical equipment, sanitary material and furniture regulated by Health”. It has a semi-automatic stretcher, first-aid kits, immobilization material in case of accidents, vacuum mattress, spinal board, defibrillator monitor and semi-automatic defibrillator (DESA), among others.

The new unit will reinforce the technical resources always present in public events of a sporting, festive and cultural nature in the different towns of the municipality, although the mayor values above all “the disposition and training of the group of more than thirty volunteers who are impeccably coordinated by the head of Civil Protection, Ildefonso Noda". "We have eleven qualified volunteers who can provide services in the ambulance, apart from the health professionals that 112 orders in certain emergencies,” he pointed out.
