Yaiza already has its 2023 Budget approved, it is the first municipality of Lanzarote to validate its accounts, and it did so in the ordinary session of the Plenary of the Corporation held this Thursday where the mayor and councilor responsible for Economy and Finance, Óscar Noda, from Unidos por Yaiza (UPY), detailed the municipal forecasts that total 25.6 million euros, 10.6 percent more than in 2002, with a financial record this year of 2.8 million euros to tender the service of collection and transport of urban solid waste (rest fraction and implementation of organic fraction), convinced the City Council that the service can be improved.

Also noteworthy is the item of 250,000 euros destined to the drafting of the new General Urban Planning Plan of Yaiza and thus update the current Supplementary General Plan of Yaiza, in force since the end of 2014. "The objective of this revision of the existing Plan is to provide the municipality with a general planning instrument adapted to the current social, economic, environmental, cultural and urban situation. We already announced to the Government of the Canary Islands that we were going to bet on the drafting of a Plan, although the one of 2014 leaves a lot of work advanced", said the mayor.

Another significant aspect in Yaiza is the percentage of collection that stands at 70 percent, described as "very good" by the Intervention services, and with room for improvement, an index that also reiterates the confidence of the neighbors in the municipal management. "In Yaiza, citizens pay their taxes and see investments."

The City Council maintains the record of 200,000 euros for employment plans and again makes a strong commitment to Culture and Sports, two areas that in Yaiza are dynamizing the local and island economy. The City Council allocates more than 600,000 euros to the promotion and dissemination of Culture and more than 400,000 euros to sports, including subsidies, events and support for formative sports.

Óscar Noda announced that "for Easter we are preparing a spectacular scenic work with more than 50 artists and live music band, in the Plaza de la Alameda, to be enjoyed free of charge by our neighbors and the people of Lanzarote who want to join us."

On the other hand, the City Council hopes to close an agreement with the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands that allows the commissioning, with indirect management, of the Yaiza Children's School, known as Municipal Nursery. The Budget sets a item of 74,000 euros considering the draft agreement with Education so that the Government of the Canary Islands, the City Council and the families of the minors, assume in equal parts the cost of each of the places offered, "warning that if there are families who could not afford it, the Institution will do so attending to reports from Social Services, an area that, of course, is endowed with items to meet different needs of vulnerable families."

Yaiza maintains the item of 100,000 euros of transport aid for university and higher cycle students and incorporates for the first time, after a process of integration and training of neighbors and groups and popular vote, 120,000 euros for the realization of projects emanating from the Participatory Budgets.
