The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, has announced that this Thursday he sent the municipal decree to the Cabildo of Lanzarote by which the City Council confirms the inter-administrative cooperation requested by the First Island Corporation so that it can put out to public tender and immediately execute the project to complete the roundabout that is half-finished at the intersection of the town of Uga to La Geria.
Noda celebrates that "the Roads Area of the Cabildo has promptly attended to our latest request, that of February 4, which in no case corresponds to a whim, and yes in favor of solving the shortcomings in road safety that presents a conflicting traffic point in our municipality." The City Council has also informed the Cabildo of the exemption of all taxes and fees involved in the execution of the works.
Óscar Noda emphasizes that "Yaiza does not understand public management without cooperation between institutions. We do it with the Cabildo, but we also carry out projects of general interest with the Government of the Canary Islands and the State, and we do it because Yaiza is a healthy administration that knows where it has to knock on doors and claim before the competent entities."
In the case of the unfinished roundabout of Uga, the City Council has been requesting the inclusion and execution of the project since 2014 with funds from the Municipal Cooperation Plan that the Cabildo agrees with the city councils. "Once the litigation for the expropriation of land has been overcome and this last step has been taken, we are now only waiting for the bidding of the project and the execution of the works," added the Councilor for Public Works of Yaiza, Jonatan Lemes.
