The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the area of Public Works, Planning and Project Coordination, has completed the project to execute the works of the unfinished roundabout that connects Uga with La Geria.

It should be remembered that, recently, the mayor of Yaiza requested the Cabildo to complete these works, "once the litigation for land expropriation has been overcome".

The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, has expressed her satisfaction, “since after seven years of neglect, the intervention in this section of the LZ-30 road will finally be a reality”. “This is a very dangerous intersection with poor visibility, with the consequent risk for drivers, and we are going to invest more than 200,000 euros in it,” she added.

"From the Cabildo we are only waiting for the authorization of inter-administrative cooperation from the Yaiza City Council to be able to send the project to Contracting and conclude this necessary work as soon as possible, which will undoubtedly improve the safety of this road,” said the Councilor for Public Works, Jacobo Medina.

Details of the works

According to the institution, the actions to be carried out will consist of the construction of a circular roundabout, centered with the axes of the LZ-30 road and with those of the two side streets, with a central island of 25 meters in diameter, a traffic ring of 6 meters and shoulders of 1 meter on each side. Likewise, the entry and exit lanes of each road will be separated by deflector islands.

The underground duct for low voltage and irrigation will also be executed, crossing the traffic ring to the central island, in anticipation of the placement of public lighting for the roundabout and the garden areas that will beautify the road. The work will be completed with both vertical and horizontal signage, as well as directional signs.
