The Cabildo has announced that the works of the pedestrian promenade and bike path between the Hotel Salinas de Costa Teguise and the Port of Los Mármoles de Arrecife have already started. The works that are executed by the Public Works Area of the Cabildo have an investment of 1,370,019.43 euros, co-financed with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
This work is the continuation of the maritime promenade that connects the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen with Costa Teguise, passing through Playa Honda and Arrecife. Specifically, in the capital the sections I between the Charco de San Ginés and the School of Fisheries and section II between the School of Fisheries and Puerto Naos have already been completed.
“This third phase of the promenade starts at the Port of Los Mármoles, connecting the promenade that already exists and that comes from Puerto Naos, to continue next to the Circunvalación de Las Caletas and reach the vicinity of the Hotel Salinas in Costa Teguise. This is an important work so that both residents and visitors can enjoy our coastline thanks to a pleasant walk that can be done on foot or by bike,” explains the Councilor for Public Works, Jacobo Medina.
Thus, and starting next Monday, March 22, the section of the LZ-14 road between the Port of Los Mármoles and Las Caletas will be closed to traffic, to continue with the works carried out by the awarded company Hormigones Insulares S.L. During the next weeks the works of this new promenade will be carried out, including a bike path and sidewalk, as well as public lighting, which currently does not exist.
The closure to traffic of this road will take place from Monday to Friday, from 07:00 to 17:00 hours. Drivers and residents who have to access Las Caletas and the warehouses in the area can do so through Avenida de Las Palmeras in Costa Teguise. Also, from the Cabildo inform that a provisional bus stop will also be enabled in El Cactus street, next to the playground of Las Caletas.
From the Public Works Area, we ask drivers to excuse the inconvenience caused and to drive with caution, respecting the provisional signs and taking alternative routes.
