This Friday, work has begun on the replacement of the altered physical reality in the Mirador de Guinate area, the first step towards the implementation of the Integrated Exterior Surveillance System (SIVE).
In this sense, the mayoress of Haría for the Platform of the Municipality of Haría (PMH), Evalia García, has pointed out that “it is good news for the municipality and for the residents that these works have finally begun to be carried out, since the viewpoint will be returned to its natural state.”
“We hope that they will be completed in two months and that this surveillance system will be put into operation, which is essential to help detect any type of vessel approaching the coasts of the Canary Islands,” said the municipal manager. And she added that the municipal corporation has carried out an “arduous work so that the Guinate environment does not suffer the irreversible damage that could have occurred if the previous project had continued.”
For his part, the first deputy mayor and president of the PMH, José Torres Stinga, has stated that “finally the central administration has kept its word and is recovering a space that should never have been altered”, thus complying “with a demand from all the residents of the municipality of Haría.”
In this regard, the second deputy mayor and councilor for the Environment and Conservation and Maintenance of Goods and Services, Fernando Fontes, pointed out that “today is a day of celebration for all the people of Haría who will soon see how the surroundings of the Guinate viewpoint recover its essence and its natural appearance.”
