This week the improvement works on the sports courts of Costa Teguise have begun, as announced by the Teguise City Council. They have started on the court located between Los Crotos and Panamá streets and later the one on La Laguna street will start.
The performances are possible thanks to a grant awarded by the Ministry of Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, the result of coordination and collaboration between administrations, as well as municipal diligence in processing and managing these grants.
The intervention on the court on Los Crotos–Panamá street has been awarded to the company Drasan Urban Play SLU for an amount of 153,010 euros and is already underway. For its part, the action on the court on La Laguna street has been awarded to Grupo Niberma SL for 168,296.52 euros, which represents a total investment of over 321,000 euros. The work includes the comprehensive renovation of the pavement, the improvement of the enclosures, the conditioning of the surroundings, and the general adaptation of both facilities, with the aim of guaranteeing greater safety, functionality, and quality in their daily use.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted the importance of this action and emphasized institutional cooperation: "We continue to advance in the improvement of our sports infrastructures thanks to serious planning and collaboration between administrations. These courts were a priority for the residents of Costa Teguise and today we take a firm step towards their renovation."
Likewise, he stressed that sport is part of the municipal strategy as a tool for social cohesion and the promotion of healthy habits.
For his part, the Councilor for Sports, Alejandro Ramírez, highlighted that “these courts are spaces widely used by young people and families and their comprehensive renovation was necessary to guarantee safety, accessibility, and quality in their daily use. With this intervention, we not only improve the infrastructure but also strengthen our commitment to grassroots sports, physical activity, and the coexistence and well-being of the entire community.”
