The spokesperson for Unidos Por Yaiza, Daniel Medina, wanted to "respond to the latest and surprising" press release issued by Mateo Ramón and Emilio Machín. In said note, Coalición Canaria Yaiza criticizes the "incorporation as trusted personnel of the former councilor Fátima Viñoly, who performed an extraordinary job at the end of the previous term in the primary sector and with the agricultural market of Uga."
For Medina, “this CC note serves to highlight several things. The first is that the party absolutely despises the regulatory power of the mayor to surround himself with the people he deems appropriate for the good of the municipality's management, as well as for people who have demonstrated an extraordinary performance of their duties and government responsibilities, as is the case of Viñoly.”
On the other hand, Media adds, “UPY is a party with open doors for CC affiliates who have felt deceived by the strange movement between YAS and CC in the south.” Thus, the municipalist party that governs with an absolute majority in Yaiza wants to make it clear that the incorporation of Viñoly "does not respond to hidden pacts or claims of changes of favor, it simply responds to the criterion of seeking the appropriate profile to continue the work related to the primary sector and other areas together with the political leaders appointed by the mayor."
Medina also points out that in this press release “CC uncovers and demonstrates the vile attempt of a motion of censure against Óscar Noda in the previous term, intending to form a ‘Frankenstein’ government with parties from the right and the left, only with the sole objective of unseating those whom the citizens have just granted an absolute majority”, which Medina considers, “a great disloyalty to the interests of the citizens and an affront to their majority decision."
“A great disloyalty to the interests of the citizens and an affront to their majority decision."
In addition, UPY reminds CC of "its double standard when it comes to hidden pacts and practices typical of past times, or do we have to remember how Manolo Fajardo Feo (CC) governed in Arrecife, relying on two defectors such as Emilia Perdomo and Nayra Callero, or Oswaldo Betancort himself with a defector councilor from the PP in his first term in the Teguise City Council.”
Daniel Medina maintains that, to top it off, “the height of absurdity comes with CC's harsh statement about getting support for certain commitments, and they forget that they have created a satellite party called YAS with former UPY colleagues and whom they have just rewarded with the appointment of an affiliate as head of cabinet of Oswaldo Betancort."
To conclude, Medina “recommends that Emilio Machín and CC in Yaiza change their strategy, as the attempt to wear down, empty criticism and political opportunism only lead you to lose two elections in less than a month and a half and, furthermore, losing more and more support as evidenced by their fall on May 28 and the new defeat in the General Elections on July 23.”
