Unidos por Lanzarote y La Graciosa (UPLG) has denounced that the Teguise City Council suspended last week “a large part” of the events of the San Juan festivities in the town of Soo, leaving the program of festivities practically empty.

“The town was summoned on May 20 to organize some festivities that were organized by two people from the town, one of them a councilor with a position on the board of the teleclub, which, in addition, leads us to think about a possible conflict of interest”, they point out from the formation.

From UPLG they explain that the “big problem” of the festivities, among many other smaller ones, is that the big event, which was the popular festival, “was suspended one day before, on June 22, via WhatsApp at 11 p.m.”. “Nothing was notified to the orchestras, who found out through other channels, outside the board”, the party assures.

UPLG describes the actions of the Teguise City Council as “lamentable”. “Let them explain it to those who have obtained the award of the teleclub by auction and have been left hanging with merchandise and personnel that they had acquired for the 'big day' of the festivities”, they criticize from the party.

The formation also points out that, immersed in this “farce” of organization by the Teguise City Council, the “supposedly happy night of San Juan” arrived. “On the eve of it, Soo was sleeping in the dark, a despised and silent town. That's where Oswaldo Betancort's 'clean skin' machinery began, who woke up publishing luminous photos of Soo and congratulating the town for San Juan, adding, full of his usual cynicism, that they had tried to make Soo wake up with its best face”, they point out from UPLG.

The political formation continues arguing that, to “such a misplaced comment”, was followed by the “usual parade of ties and dresses for the photos”. “Totally oblivious to the disaster of the previous night, with the mayor and councilors acting as if nothing had happened”, they add from UPLGC.

UPLG denounces Oswaldo Betancort's “modus operandi”

“But that modus operandi is already known and, above all, it is already tiring. And the people of Teguise and La Graciosa will not forget next year the apathy and neglect of Oswaldo Betancort for two decades, more concerned about La Gomera and the rest of the Canary Islands than about his own neighbors”, criticizes the formation, which assures that “it will not tire of denouncing the repetitive and already habitual failures of the misgovernment of Teguise and the disappeared mayor”.

From the political formation they emphasize that the errors of the Teguise government are as reiterated “as the practices of escapism and face washing after each one of them”. “When they are very big, he uses his agenda or WhatsApp to appear hours later selling smoke in the media”, adds the party.

In addition, UPLG affirms that in more normal issues or that affect fewer people, as is the case, “it uses social networks and press releases, both its own and from the City Council, to patch up the situation”.

“We have waited a few days to see if the opposition did its job, but only the headless PP of Teguise has muttered something. The PSOE, in its island council occupations, only makes noise when there are plenary sessions nearby or when the bosses of the Cabildo have to be pleased”, concludes the formation.
