The association of Titerroy residents demands that the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, turn on the lighting in the Julián de León Tejera children's park. In a statement, it criticizes that the works to install the lighting were completed "more than two years ago", but "the lighting is still not working".

In 2017, the City Council "publicly announced 'the largest action that has been carried out in the history of the City Council' to improve the areas for children", say the residents of Titerroy, who have requested "repeatedly" that they be sent "the projects to improve the neighborhood parks and the date of their execution".

"Titerroy has several playgrounds, but none of them are in good condition for the use and enjoyment of the little ones. They have not been repaired for several years, especially the play equipment is very deteriorated. We residents need and require this service to enjoy our public spaces even more. Being able to take a quiet and safe walk at night in our parks is impossible without adequate lighting, because it gives a great feeling of insecurity. In addition, accidents caused by tripping or simple unevenness or steps would also be reduced", they denounce.

Regarding the children's park in Plaza Pío XII, "the wooden security fence was removed to be repaired 10 years ago, in November 2012, something that has not yet been undertaken. As of today, the little ones run the risk of falling from a height of one meter", criticize the residents.

The Titerroy Neighborhood Association hopes that these demands from the residents "do not fall on deaf ears" and that the Arrecife City Council "takes the necessary and urgent measures to remedy the situation of abandonment and deterioration of the children's parks in this neighborhood".
