Representatives of the Tías City Council received this Wednesday the general director of Centers, Infrastructures and Educational Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands, María Candelaria González, and detailed the needs of the educational centers located in the municipality, requesting the extension of the Rafael Cedrés school. The mayor, José Juan Cruz, valued this visit and expressed his confidence that the facilities can be expanded soon.
José Juan Cruz received María Candelaria González together with the deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and the Councilor for Education, Tomás Silvera. The island director of Education, Celeste Callero, was also present. They all visited the CEIP Alcalde Rafael Cedrés and, according to the City Council, the General Directorate was "receptive" to the demands made by the municipal corporation.
The Tías City Council conveyed to the General Directorate of Centers, Infrastructures and Educational Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands the need to undertake a new project for the Alcalde Rafael Cedrés Center for Early Childhood and Primary Education (CEIP), "which needs an immediate extension."
"Taking into account the age of this school, more than 40 years, and the forecast growth in the number of students, which currently exceeds 700 enrolled, Tías needs a new center indisputably," the Consistory points out. For this reason, the mayor demanded that the drafting of a project that makes the new Tías school a reality be taken into account.
Likewise, the City Council affirms that it is working, in turn, to acquire some 4,000 square meters of land that will be used for the new school.
