Students from the municipality of Tías can apply from this Monday and until January 4 for extraordinary grants for students residing in the municipality, compatible with other subsidies and aid from other organizations or institutions. From the Consistory they point out that "the amounts are rising again for the third consecutive year".
The mayor, José Juan Cruz, and the Councilor for Education, Tomás Silvera, consider "institutional support for all families with young people who wish to pursue university studies inside or outside the island to be of vital importance." Silvera clarifies that "academic excellence is rewarded, but the social and economic situation of the family is also taken into account."
The Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) published on Friday the mayoral decree with the call for these grants, whose applications can be submitted from this Monday in person at the Tías Town Hall or electronically through its Electronic Headquarters through this link.
Tomás Silvera explains that the increase in the amounts to be received by each subsidized student will allow a student who is studying at a university outside the island to receive a minimum of 1,000 euros. "The Department of Education has been committed since 2019 to the annual and progressive increase in the amounts of study aid," conclude from the City Council.
