The Tías City Council already has the project for the integral reinforcement of the Matagorda playground, which will go from occupying 257 square meters to exceeding one thousand square meters. This expansion will allow it to be equipped with numerous elements such as an airplane, a control tower and shaded areas.
The objective of the project, with a bidding base of 720,712.76 euros, is to expand and improve the existing children's area on Avenida de las Playas, near the Beatriz Playa hotel, with updated security systems and accessible and inclusive elements. According to the proposal, the aim is to ensure that the park meets high quality standards, complying with UNE-EN 1176, 1177 and EN 16630 standards, in addition to guaranteeing the inclusion of people with disabilities and PRM.
The Councilor for Children's Parks, Christopher Notario, indicates that "we want to promote the relationship between the inhabitants by creating spaces and improving existing spaces for the same purpose."
He advances that the project includes a design with aeronautical theme, with an airplane and a six-meter-high control tower with a slide, balance circuit, 20-meter zip line, trampoline mats on small elevations and wooden pergolas for shaded areas.
"With the excellent location of the park, with views of the sea and the planes heading to the Cesar Manrique airport, it is a way to pay tribute to the great means of transport such as the plane, which is essential for connectivity between the islands of the archipelago and with countries around the world," explains Christopher Notario.
