The Yaiza City Council resolved this Tuesday the granting of a new cash subsidy of 15,000 euros for Latin sailing, in the specialty of five-meter boats, destined for five clubs in the municipality that train and compete regularly in this sport with a past and present seafaring that has special roots in the town of Playa Blanca.
The aid is part of the program for the promotion and dissemination of native sports promoted by the City Council through the Department of Sports led by Ángel Lago. Yaiza is already preparing the celebration of the fourth edition of the Latin Sailing Cup of the South, an event that in 2021 gave a new boost to the sport, managing to return to those times of furor.
For Yaiza it means "the recovery of the traditional values that permeated the native sport of Latin sailing, values such as effort, sacrifice, dedication and struggle and the enjoyment of an entire town." The City Council "appreciates the commitment of the sailors of all the clubs, that of the boat owners and sponsors, as well as the helping hand of the Marina Rubicón and Puerto Calero ports, it is a job for everyone."
